I've been using the Facebook twitter app for a few weeks now with no negative results. Of course I only tweet a couple times a day. The main thing that has happened as a result is people who use only Facebook and not Twitter have gotten back in touch with me, or commented on my status more often.

Like other commenters, I find this extremely annoying as a user/friend/follower on all of these sites. Yes, the "networking" aspects could be valuable, but the majority of my Facebook friends (friends from high school, college, previous jobs, clients, etc) would be turned off by the frequency and content of my Tweets (3-4 times a day versus 1 status update per day).

One must weigh the costs and benefits of this cross-posting carefully to avoid driving people away as others have mentioned.

Twitter is an awesome and powerful tool, that combined with facebook could increase the number of visitors of your website or blog... I have also received messages like these in my profile hahaha...

Brian - while I've definitely seen this tactic abused, if you don't tweet more than you would update your status (assuming you had time to do both), and if the content of your tweets is similar to what you'd post as a status update, then there's probably less risk of backlash.

Also, I think it's worth mentioning that I don't think the Twitter app posts tweets that begin with @, so your more directed, one-on-one twitter convos don't clutter FB.

Brian - Nice post. Just so you're aware, zi.ma's down at the moment. Maybe put the full url in blog posts and use shorteners just for twitter?

I would agree with the possible backlash. I am afraid feeding all my tweets to my Facebook account would be considered spamming by those I am connect with there. I think there are better ways to stay on the top of my friends pages. I feed my blog post to my Facebook. I also started a group in my niche and invite people to join that too.

Personally, I am not sure I would "spam" Facebook with my tweets.

I could also see a bit of a backlash to this though... I'm not sure that Facebook users are as much in a "i need constant updates" frame of mind as twitterers, at least not to the same degree. So there may be some cries of "Shut the hell up!" :P
